Lynn D. Blazek

Born on December 21, 1931 in Graham County, Kansas to Frank and Matilda (Tilly) Blazek. He was the youngest of four joining Franklin (Gene), Vernon and Arlene. Lynn lived and worked on the family farm, receiving future farmer of the year awards, up to graduating from Lyndon High School in 1949. During this time he met and dated Gwendolyn Short (Gwen/Tootie) who would become the love of his life. She moved with her parents Darreld and Ella to Los Angeles, CA. After Lynn completed high school he followed and they married in 1952 with a small wedding in Inglewood, CA. He served in the Army from 1952-1954 as an M.P. based at Fort Ord in San Francisco, CA. After his service they settled in Hawthorne, CA and started their family of two sons, in a home they loved and lived their lives out. In his early career Lynn was employed by Chevron Oil in El Segundo, CA. Then electing to become self- employed, as he was for the last fifteen years in transportation working with both his sons. Lynn passed peacefully on September 26, 2014 at home surrounded by family as per his wishes. He is survived by his two sons Greg of LaPine, OR and Steve (Leanne) of Foothill Ranch, CA. Grandchildren Amber, Zach, Trevor, Sydney, Bailey, Nick and Jake; great grandchildren Brooke and Aidan and sister Arlene Schulte of Little River, KS. He lost his loving wife of 53 years in 2005 in addition to his daughter-in-law Susan K. in 2010. Lynn was a kind, compassionate man with a positive caring heart who loved his family, friends and life. We have all been blessed and are better individuals for having him in our hearts and lives. God Speed Popsie. Per his wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at his home with a private interment at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
